Day 1-2: Legoland:
We kicked off our trip with two action-packed days at Legoland, a paradise for both kids and adults. From thrilling rides to Lego sculptures, Legoland offers a world of imagination and excitement.
We stayed at the Legoland Windsor resort in a Pirate-themed room, for the second year in a row. Not only was it a fun experience, but it also provided us with easy access to the park, making our visit even more enjoyable.
Day 3-4: Exploring Cornwall’s Natural Beauty:
Leaving Legoland behind, we embarked on a scenic drive to Cornwall, making stops at Windsor and Bristol along the way. Our first destination was the mesmerizing Minack Theatre, an open-air amphitheater on the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. We were captivated by the stunning views and enjoyed a memorable performance.
Next, we explored the charming seaside town of St Ives. The golden sands, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant art scene made it a perfect spot to unwind and soak up the coastal beauty.
Day 5-6: St Michaels Mount:
Our journey continued with a visit to the magnificent St Michaels Mount, a tidal island crowned by a medieval castle.
We got there early in the morning so we took a boat to the tail island.
In the afternoon, we walked across the causeway back to the beach at low tide.
Driving towards Bath, we made a stop at the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning cliffs and fossil-rich beaches. The dramatic landscapes left us in awe of nature’s wonders. My son, who proudly calls himself a Paleontologist, was on a mission to find the best fossils on the beach.
Day 7-8: Bath:
Arriving in Bath, we were immediately enchanted by its Georgian architecture and rich history. We spent a day exploring the Roman Baths, the iconic Bath Abbey, and the picturesque Pulteney Bridge. Bath’s charming streets and cozy cafes provided the perfect backdrop for a leisurely stroll and a taste of the city’s famous afternoon tea. We had lunch at Cappadocia restaurant, which is located right next to Pulteney bridge. Afterward, we headed to Victoria Park, where we found a big playground that offered endless fun for the whole family. Our accommodation in Bath was a cozy Airbnb, which used to be an old hay barn. The owners were incredibly sweet, and the location was perfect, allowing us to explore the city with ease.
Day 9: Farewell to Southwest England:
As our adventure came to an end, we made one final stop at Castle Combe, a quintessential English village straight out of a fairytale. Its picturesque cottages and tranquil surroundings made it a fitting farewell to the beauty of Southwest England.
Our 9-day journey through Southwest England was a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and cultural exploration. From the excitement of Legoland to the natural beauty of Cornwall and the historical charm of Bath, this trip left us with memories that will last a lifetime. Although our itinerary was packed with incredible experiences, there were a few places we wished we had more time to visit. Kynance Cove, Tintagel Castle, Land’s End, Eden Project, and Nectan’s Glen are all hidden gems that we hope to explore on our next visit to Cornwall.
