Day 1: Arrival in Copenhagen
After a short flight with RyanAir, we landed in Copenhagen, the vibrant capital of Denmark. Our home for the duration of our stay was the Scandic CPH Strandpark hotel, offering stunning views of the city’s waterfront. With its convenient location, we were ready to embark on our Danish adventure. With the Copenhagen Pass in hand, public transportation had been a breeze, allowing us to navigate the city effortlessly and make the most of our time. We started with a visit to the iconic Little Mermaid statue, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s beloved fairytale.
Day 2: Day Trips to Malmö, Sweden
On our second day, we decided to venture beyond Denmark’s borders and take a day trip to Malmö, Sweden. A short train ride from Copenhagen, Malmö greeted us with its charming streets, historic architecture, and a unique blend of Scandinavian and European influences. One of the highlights of our trip to Malmö was visiting the Malmö castle. As soon as we stepped inside, the kids’ eyes lit up with excitement. The castle’s architecture and rich history captivated their imaginations. They eagerly explored the various rooms, pretending to be knights and princesses, immersing themselves in the medieval atmosphere. The castle’s interactive exhibits and engaging storytelling made the experience even more memorable for them.
For lunch, we headed to Torvehallerne, a vibrant food market with around 80 vendors, offering a wide array of culinary delights. From traditional Danish pastries to fresh seafood and local produce, there’s something here for everyone.
Day 3: Day trip to Tivoli
On our third day, we visited Tivoli Gardens, one of the world’s oldest amusement parks. The magical atmosphere, kids rides, and beautifully landscaped gardens made for an unforgettable day.
Day 4: Last day in Copenhagen
On our last day in Copenhagen, we made our way to the Hans Christian Andersen Statue, paying homage to the famous Danish author whose stories have captivated readers for generations. In the afternoon, we stopped by the beautiful Palace Amalienborg, the official residence of the Danish royal family. The kids loved watching the changing of the guard ceremony in front of the palace.
After four days exploring the streets, iconic landmarks, fairy tale sights, and immersing ourselves in the Danish culture, we can confidently say that four days was the perfect amount of time for a city break in Copenhagen. It allowed us to experience the city’s charm, and create lasting memories. It was truly a joy to see how much the kids loved every moment spent at Copenhagen and Malmö.
